Why were titles shortened / editged?
Posted by boardcrunch

Hello,

Can anyone chime in to explain why many of my titles had game specific keywords removed from them and reduced to very generic event titles?

For instance, Axis & Allies Miniatures WWII Tank Battles -> WWI Tank Battles or my Star Wars Legion 800-pt Ready To Play -> 800-pt Ready To Play?

These changes are really severe and make the events unnoticeable and generic at best.

Thanks!

PS,
I emailed events@ twice, but no response.

Probably because you duplicated information in the Game System and Event Title fields. This is frowned upon.

Which means that you should come up with other titles that do not rely on including the game system to make them memorable.

The Events staff  are pretty busy right now, but they should get back to you.

My game titles have been the same for years now (at least 3) for the most part so it is odd *some* of them got edited this year. I have heard or been told that naming this way is frowned upon. Some of my events, named similarly, are unchanged. So not sure what the partial renaming is.

They are outsourcing a lot of the event reviews this year. Those new folks have a list of rules/guidelines to follow. Whereas a seasoned event reviewer might let some things slide, a new contracted individual is more likely to stick to the letter. I would guess that is the difference this year.
