Just because things may go completely back to normal in 103 days from now doesn't mean Gen Con will be normal; we know a few reasons why it can't, already.
Now for the colts example (and other stadium events) they have a fixed capacity (there are only so many seats). So for them to go from 50% to 100% capacity requires no additional work. In fact its easier for them as there is less work when NOT closing spaces off.
As of June 8th, the ICC is now only requiring masks/social distancing for anyone who is not fully vaccinated:
COVID-19 Operating Plan
I am wondering if there will be groups running games that require all persons attending their session/s to wear masks? I don't care either way. I will attend GenCon in a full hazmat suit if need but but I hope that the person/persons running sessions at least state somewhere whether they personally wish players to wear mask or not.
Woohoo!!
Yeah, I was just going to say -- the ICC not requiring masks doesn't mean that Gen Con won't. In fact, their previous statements suggest they may well do so. Personally, I hope they don't require them. They can be a nuisance and, especially at RPG events, it can be hard enough to hear people as it is.
Vaccinated people should not be required mask since there protected, that what science says not me
I'm right there with you about science/medicine/math not lying....but this is just me I think the numbers are going in the wrong damn direction.
OK time go play more games and grab a beer...
everyone go enjoy the rest of the weekend
In fact, most places in my community have a sign up that says something like "Masks not required for fully vaccinated customers". But, they're not carding you at the door. Are people who are choosing not to get vaccinated wearing a mask as required? Probably not. But we're going to be living with these people forever.
And the numbers are not going "the wrong damn direction". Unless you want them to go up?
(Average new cases per day this week were down about 20% from last week.) But, at least in the U.S., we're probably approaching plateau of how good we will ever get without convincing the holdouts to get a shot. Maybe get a bit better when kids 11 and under are eligible. Other than that, I don't see what we'd be waiting for to change anything for the better -- ever.
It is beginning to look like that Indiana has a high enough Vacc rate and previously infected rate that as of July 7th the majority of the mask mandate will be dropped. Our esteemed mayor may throw us a curve ball but things are trending very well here.

Honestly, as long as there's still an in-person con in September 2021 with at least the capacity allowed right now, I'll be happy - mask or no mask.
As of July 1st there are no capacity restrictions and masks are no longer required indoors for unvaccinated people in Marion County. https://www.wishtv.com/news/local-news/marion-county-to-lift-majority-of-coronavirus-restrictions/
