Capped attendance with rolled over badges

Something else I thought of: What's going to go live first, event submission or badge sales? Because if people submit events to run and get accepted, they'll obviously need a badge to get in. And with limited attendance, the possibility of someone having an event accepted but being unable to get a badge sounds very real.

We will limit badge sales based on maintaining social distance and safety requirements as required by public-health regulations while also taking into account individuals who rolled over their badges from last year.
Priority for attendance will be given first to attendees who donated or rolled over their 2020 badge, and then available to all. If we believe that we can safely hold the convention for additional attendees, we may offer additional waves of badge availability.

Mike,

Just to avoid further confusion will there be a lottery system for those of us that have rolled or donated our badges from 2020 or are all of the donated and rolled over badges automatically attending unless they specifically say they can't attend this year?

So I just checked my account page, and it said that I have a badge for 2021.  Is this correct, or just a glitch in the website form?

I'd post an image of the page, but I'm not in a position at the moment to upload it to a server in order to link it back here.

It is unknown at this time. This is our priority list for 2021 badges.

If you rolled over your badge and plan on attending we advise that you hang onto it.

Visit Indy currently lists capacity at 25% for entertainment venues. Is Gencon going with this limit on attendance for badge purchases  or does it believe that capacity will be 50% or more by September.

I assume that the Staff are going to include badge allowance for those of us that run enough events to get one?

What's the time threshold for that usually?

Yes, that is all part of the equation.

Too many unknowns here.

Thanks for checking.  Time now to start lining up events.  Looks like we'll be running Kingmaker, and a tabletop miniatures game to be determined.  :)

I'm from Canada abd i always go to Gencon by car, but for now the border are closed so, even if i want to be there, i don't know if i will be able. I got until when to decide if i go or if i roll my badge to next year?
And on a second topic, are we gonna have a list of the companies that will show up in the vendor hall because that's a huge draw for me as i usually buy around 40-50 games

The possibility that people who have been volunteering for decades, and thus did not even formally get badges for 2020 despite being "part of the [cancelled] show," might not end up being able to go this year due to the badge limitations... well, even mentioning it sounds like whining no matter how I phrase it.

So, well, I guess this is me whining.

I am now done whining, I promise.

Here is to hoping I can get a badge!  Plus, I can then refund it if the Auction does happen and I end up being able to get a badge that way, opening that slot back up for someone deserving!

May 16 for rolled over badges.

We will have a list of companies, but that won't be for a while.

This might be asking too much, but worth a shot. I have at least one kid with a rolled over adult badge who will not be able to make it in September.

Can we transfer/gift a rolled over badges to another attendee without a badge?

You cannot transfer a badge to another attendee. Your only option is to have it refunded and then buy it for the other attendee when badge registration opens.

Thanks for a date.  I'm guessing that everyone will need to 'opt-in' to going?

Is a simple way to confirm that our rolled over badge from 2020 is all good to go, is if it's still in our cart from last year?  Many of my group rolled over and just wanting to verify.

Thanks!

If you click on your name/ID number at the top of the page, it should show something like this:  "Congratulations, you have a badge for Gen Con 2021!"
