hi all!
Will Ipass work for me if I am coming from Chicago? Just wanna make sure in a different state if it will still register or will i need change for my tolls.
thanks all
What food stops do you recommend on the way too? its a 3.5 hour drive so i'll look to try some new eats!
You're good.
We use ours every year and we come from the burbs by Ohare.
Every toll lane on the Illinois Tollway accepts I-PASS. You can also use it on the Chicago Skyway, the Indiana Toll Road and in 17 other states (via the E-ZPass system).

EZ-Pass is the best. I've been using it for years here in NY. It's accepted in pretty much in every state in the North-East with toll roads. Including Illinois and Indiana.

thank you guys thats a nice sign of relief! see you guys thursday if all goes to plan :D
IPass is better than EZPass because IPass just charges for the tolls, whereas most states' EZPass either charges an up-front fee for the device or an annual maintenance fee (though admittedly a few states do not). I bought an IPass and had it shipped to me when living in Massachusetts because I was so irritated at the idea of paying extra, haha.
I purchased mine about 18-24 months ago - and there absolutely was an upfront deposit (fee) required. Now...in theory, I'll get it back if I turn back in the device...but there for sure was an upfront cost to get the device and "activate" it.
EZPass didn't charge me a fee, but that was more than 20 years ago (yep, same transponder is still working). As far as I know, they still don't change anything for the transponder. SunPass in Florida charges about $5 for a transponder that can't be moved from car-to-car, and about $20 for one that can be moved.
Anyway, it's not like you really have a choice in most areas. In the Northeast, it's EZPass or nothing; they don't take IPass.
It all depends on the state. In NY, if you use a credit card for automatic replenishment they waive the one time $25 fee for the tag. NY also has no additional fees if you just use your EZ-Pass for pre-paid tolls.
