Off Site (FLGS) Events?

Do Indy FLGS or other businesses have events during GenCon week (either official or unofficial)?  We are staying away from downtown and I thought it might be nice to do something out a bit to get a breather from the chaos.

(We are more into board games vs TTRPG or TCG)

I know this is a bit early, but on a similar topic, are there specific events that we should keep an eye out for?  Not necessarily looking for high demand hotness... just things that are well run and have a good potential to entertain.

Already on my radar are AEG Big Game night and BGG Hot Games Room.

Elf 'N Moon game store was open 24/7 during Gen Con last year, with gaming, movies, and more.  I never made it over, but heard good things about it.  Might be worth checking to see whether they are doing the same this year.

Good Games has a store right downtown. 111 S Meridian.

I know last year the Dice Tower guys went up to the FAR NW side to a local game store for open gaming bit to me that's just a WASTE of valuable GC time. :)

That is so funny you brought that up since it was the Dice Tower video that made me ask the question. I wasn't sure if that was a public thing or a private event.

The local escape room a few blocks from the ICC puts in slots into our event catalog.  Nice for a  game then a  filling meal at Spaghetti Factory downstairs afterwards

To be fair, Family Time Games, which has a very big store and a booth in the Dealers' Hall, is located near one of the in-block hotels (Embassy Suites by Hilton North), as well as a number of out-of-block hotels. While it probably would not be worth it to drive up there just for gaming during the Con, it would be worth it for those already needing to drive back to their hotels, especially those staying north or northwest.

In fact, they started at the beginning of the week, and gaming and events rant through Sunday and into Monday following Gen Con. They also had food trucks of their own, there's a nearby brewery and other great places, so even if you don't want to miss a minute of Gen Con itself, anyone coming in early, or leaving after 4:00 pm Sunday, or wanting to game in the wee hours of the morning, can always drop by!

Yeah Elf 'n' Moon was not just 24/7, they literally declared their own concurrent convention, Elf-Con, and they are doing the same thing this year, probably going at least Tuesday-Sunday night (so people have time to come check it out before and after the Real Convention obviously!)
