Any idea if pinball alley will be back this year?
If you're looking for pinball there are several places in the area that are not charging 2 dollars a play which is ...wild. I've played across the country and that's insane to me. There is a super cool spot in a bank vault a bit away from the con but it's really neat called Pinvault.
ITS $5 ALL YOU CAN PLAY PINBALL at the "Vault" 21 and over only
Heck, I might be willing to rent the place out for a couple of hours on Tuesday or Wednesday of enough people are interested in going to Pinvault.
Pinball Alley was back for another amazing year... it does exactly what we hope it can do... the expense for the convenience to be able to play anything from the entire Stern Insider Connected machines along with every single Jersey Jack machine at $2 per play is extremely well received. Sure, you can head away from the convention and play pinball in Indy at many places for less, but to get a few games in while you are between your D&D session and walking the expo floor right next the Food Trucks and Block Party Zone means no Uber fees to another place in town and risking out missing other things at Gen Con on your list.
Strange to me that anyone here on Gen Con's own message boards would throw shade on fellow pinheads from Bank of Pinball (where we charge $1 per game at our store where costs are not $2,000 for electricity for 4 days as an example). We get thousands of "THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BRINGING ALL THESE GAMES TO GEN CON FOR US TO PLAY".
Also not cool to promote things away from Gen Con when there is a partner providing those services to attendees and following all the rules and guidelines as a partner of Gen Con.
I feel that, given how people love to come to discussions about the Auction which is an official charity partner with Gen-Con and encourage people to do unrelated game trades or sales instead
Is pinball back? But will it be improved? I think that if pinball were to incorporate AR or VR technology, it would definitely be more appealing, especially to the younger generation. Imagine being able to play pinball with 3D effects at home, or even compete with friends online! Traditional pinball is fun, but if it is to be revived, it needs some modern innovation.
