Costume Contest & Costume Parade
Join us for the 33rd Annual Gen Con Costume Contest sponsored by brother. Display your costuming wizardry, or just relax and watch the best costumes at the convention.
The Costume Contest is held on Saturday, August 4 in the 500 Ballroom of the Convention Center. This is a free event to spectators; as a bonus, you'll be treated to pre-show entertainment by our roving entertainers Different Drummer Belly Dancers.
New this year ... this event is now TICKETED. Seating priority will be given to those who have tickets, followed by those who don't. Be sure to get your ticket.
To enter the contest with your costume creation, fill out the Gen Con 2018 Entry Form. This form includes the rules and general information regarding next steps.
You must have the following in order to register:
- A valid Gen Con Badge
- Two (2) generic tickets (cash is not accepted)
And you MUST ATTEND the Costume Contest check-in onsite on Saturday between 9:30 am-1 pm.

A Costume Parade through the Indiana Convention Center will begin at approximately 3 pm on Saturday of the convention. Anyone in costume may join the parade anywhere along the route. For Costume Contest Contestants the parade is optional but encouraged; participation in the parade is not part of judging. More details will be provided at check-in.
The parade will muster just outside Hall A, with the route entering Hall A, crossing through the Event Hall and exiting out Hall D. It will continue into the Crossroads Corridor and exit outside. There the parade will continue east down Maryland Street through the Maryland Street Motor Lobby where it will turn right at the corner of Capital Avenue and will commence at the Capital Avenue Plaza.
Pick a place along the route for your best viewing position and get your cameras ready!
- 9 am - Deadline to drop entries at the Information Booth
- 9:30 am–1:30 pm - Costume Contest Check-In - ICC : 500 Reception
No one will be entered in the Costume Contest after check-in has closed.
- 3 pm - Contestants line up for Costume Parade (outside Hall A)
- 3 pm–3:45 pm - Costume Parade
- 3:30 pm - Pre-Show Entertainment
- 3:45 pm - Contestants report to line up for the Costume Contest
- 4 pm - Costume Contest begin
