This is your every couple day reminder to take care of yourself, be nice to others, and follow all recommended health procedures.

Three simple things we can do and we will make it through this.

I hope you all continue to be well. Take care!

Even after this pandemic abates 1, 2, 12, or 18 months from now, how many people among us might still be just a tad psychologically wary of being crammed butt to shoulder with 10,000’s of other fine folks in the dealer hall, ICC hallways, etc...?

Like someone who’s been in a building fire who always checks for where the exits are and if a building has sprinklers or not, I think our overall way of looking at things may be changed somewhat, for a time maybe for some of us, forever for others...

I've seen some articles suggesting that we might see the opposite happen as well; people who previously took going out and doing stuff for granted are now spending 2 weeks with simple pleasures like bars and theaters as a dangerous, forbidden fruit. I'm personally regretting not going out to the local arcade bar more in the months prior to COVID taking root in the Chicago area. Now we're in lockdown statewide, and the fact that I can't do it is vexing. Gen Con may see similar dynamics in play, especially for people who had other gatherings cancelled or delayed.

If public events are allowed and Gencon happens, I'm not going to waste my time worrying. I'll keep clean, try not to mindlessly handle too many things in the Exhibit Hall, and go about my business. There is a good chance that COVID turns into a yearly thing but at reduced levels, like a flu season, where it never goes away entirely. So my threshold for returning to 'normal life' is not '0% chance of catching it.'

If it works for the Alliance, surely it can work for GenCon.

I might have been seen as an alarmist, but had Adepticon not been cancelled I was considering wearing gloves if I attempted a demo or planned on touching much handled merchandise at vendor booths...

I predict a very popular cosplay for GenCon.

Deleted, I asked a pointless question.

Let's all hope the Virus is gone by July.

All conventions will have to cancel for 2020. The latest news coming out of Spain is horrific. There is absolutely no way an event that puts thousands of people together will be safe this year. It is as if you are ringing the dinner bell for this virus. It is time to stop pretending the convention is going to happen. That is insanity. All events must cancel for 2020. It is the only way to be sure.
