Not Gencon related, but my hat is off to the local folks/schools making this happen.
Best thing I’ve read all week.
I was a food-insecure kid, as my parents struggled a lot with keeping us fed, once the housing boom in Az died in the mid-70s. Eventually, we survived, with much thanks to free/discounted school lunches, as well as Mom knowing how to stretch a buck in creative ( Though nutritious) ways.
Also, special thanks to all of the sweet cafeteria ladies who winked as they plopped down some extra lasagna, or snuck us kids an extra corn dog. It’s been almost 40 years, and I still haven’t forgotten your smiling faces. Your kindness made a difference.
