Anyone notice the Conrad didn't make the same mistake as last year? Rooms are over $400. I don't see anything open as yet either.

There have been a few hotels within .5 miles that had roughly block rate rooms available for about a day each before they hit the exorbitant level.

There's a nice hobo camp at the corner of Delaware and Market. That's only like 3 blocks from the convention center.

It is not uncommon, at least on common booking sites, for some hotels not to be taking bookings so far in advance. Also, rooms come in and out of availability (e.g. this year the downtown La Quinta was fully occupied in late 2017, but rooms became available towards the time of the convention).
